Installation

KevinbotLib requires Python 3.10 or newer.

Install with pip

Run the following in a virtual environment for the base version.

pip install kevinbotlib

Note

Some Linux systems require adding the user to the dialout group to access serial-connected hardware

Run the following command to add yourself to the group:

sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USER

Install with pipx

Tip

pipx installation will only install command-line tools, and GUI applications. Use the regular pip installation if you want any development modules.

  1. Install pipx here
  2. Install KevinbotLib

    Run the follwoing:s

    pipx install kevinbotlib
    

Pre-Built Binaries

KevinbotLib Pre-Built Binaries are available from the GitHub Releases Page.

Versions for Windows x64, macOS Intel, macOS ARM, and Linux x64 are available.

Note

macOS builds come in two separate packages, cli-tools, and apps

cli-tools includes the kevinbotlib command line. The cli-tools build also bundles the KevinbotLib Applications, but must be launched manually from a command line.

apps includes individual macOS applications for each of KevinbotLib's apps.

Verify installation

You can check the installed version of KevinbotLb by running the following command (does not apply to application-only installation)

kevinbotlib --version

You should see something like this KevinbotLib, version 1.0.0-alpha.13
